  • Swim Instructor

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prioritize water safety in every lesson, teaching essential skills such as floating, treading water, safe entry and exit from the pool, and responding to emergency situations.

    • Create a safe, nurturing environment for students

    • Build confidence for students in the water, using the 5 Cities Swim School Curriculum

    • Communicate with students, families and staff members

    • Welcome feedback and enjoy the process of improving

    • Report to the Managers during shifts and provide support throughout the pool deck as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Love to work with children

    • Though it is preferred, no requirement for swim lesson experience - we train to our curriculum and water safety focus

    • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with children and families

    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping children succeed

    • Can commit to a minimum of 1 year and at least 2 shifts per week

    • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, crouch or swim for up to 4 hours in the water

    • Ability to lift, hold, and/or move equipment or small child up to 50 pounds

    • Lifeguard Certified (preferred but not required).

    COMPENSATION & SHIFT

    • Pay starts at $21 per hour, with opportunities for increases based on experience, hours, and performance

    • Shifts are 3-5 hours

    • Because instructor/child trust is a core part of our program, the ability to reliably attend your shift and build trust with your students is very important.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Background check clearance.

    • Willingness to undergo additional training in low sensory and adaptive swim instruction.
