Assistant Manager

On-site, Part-time, Hourly

OVERVIEW

The Assistant Manager serves as the Manager on Duty (MOD) to execute the day-to-day operations of 5 Cities Swim School and champion a culture of team spirit. This role supports staff and customers alike with the high standards of safety, excellence, and fun child-centered learning that define our school. The Assistant Manager is an entry-level leadership position with exciting opportunities for advancement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the acting Manager on Duty during assigned shifts

  • Serve as the first point of contact for on-deck issues

  • Support instructors, deck staff, and front office team members

  • Execute daily administrative checklists and systems

  • Ensure lessons, transitions, staffing, and rotations run smoothly

  • Oversee attendance and staffing coverage in advance of each shift

  • Lead pre-shift huddles and instructor communications

  • Own pool set up, water quality assurance, and safety protocols

  • Monitor deck supervision, lesson quality, and operational flow

  • Support a clean, safe, and welcoming facility environment

  • Create excellent swimmer and family experiences

  • Provide coaching and ongoing support to staff

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Passion for working with children and supporting water safety education

  • Commitment to safety, professionalism, and team success

  • Reliable, punctual, and prepared for every shift

  • Ability to obtain Lifeguard Certification within 60 days of hire

  • Teach one swim lesson shift per week (all training provided)

  • Weekend availability is required

  • Must have availability to work peak hour times of 3pm-7pm on weekdays and/or 8am-5pm on weekends. Schedule includes a combination of these hours.

PREFERRED

  • Previous experience working in an aquatics or swim lesson environment

  • Experience in a leadership or customer service role

  • Strong understanding of swim lesson structure and progression

  • Interest in growing into a Manager role

COMPENSATION

  • $25 - $32/hour
